Swannington

Swannington is a small village with a population of around 300 and had until recently no public meeting spaces. However, following a grant from Heritage Lottery, St Margaret’s has undergone substantial refurbishment. The removal of the late 18th Century pews has provided a flexible space for parishioners to meet together for church services, and amongst other things Parish Council meetings, a monthly lunch club and pilates classes. St Margaret’s has modern facilities sitting alongside medieval graffiti – testament to its long history.

Every other year Swannington opens its gardens to the public to raise money for the children’s play area and the church. “Swannington in Bloom” is a brilliant day, filled with beautiful gardens and delicious food and has many visitors returning to see how the gardens have grown and changed since the last open day.
