Words of Light and Hope from Sue Page
Words of Light and Hope from Sue Page, Licensed Lay Minister
Prayer
Come, O Lover of the undeserving!
Who welcomes home
The foolish, the fearful and the failure
With extravagant celebration!
Come, O healer of the diseased,
Who mends the broken, sets free the imprisoned
Who soothes the troubled
The words of Life and Hope!
We welcome You!
Stay among us, Lord!
Amen!
When the song of the angels is stilled,
When the star in the sky is gone,
When the kings and princes are home,
When the shepherds are back with their flock,
The work of Christmas begins:
To find the lost,
To heal the broken,
To feed the hungry,
To release the prisoner,
To rebuild the nations,
To bring peace among people,
To make music in the heart.
Howard Thurman
This is the Christian’s joy:
I know that I am a thought in God,
no matter how insignificant I may be –
the most abandoned of beings,
one no one thinks of.
Today, when we think of Christmas gifts,
how many outcasts no one thinks of!
Think to yourselves, you that are outcast,
you that feel you are nothing in history:
“I know that I am a thought in God
and that I am LOVED!!.”
Oscar Romero
The Miracle:
When all the winds were mild,
Mary came to me apart
and laid the Holy Child
here inside my heart.
My heart was made the manger,
and my body was the stall.
And now no man is stranger:
my life goes out to all,
To bring to each of them
this Child of heaven’s light,
to let them enter in, like flames
of candles to the holy night.
Georg Johannes Gluck
“The Living Truth is what I long to see.
I cannot lean upon what used to be !
So shut the bible up and show me how
The Christ you talk about is living now”
Sydney Carter
