Returning to Our Buildings – What Will Reopening Look Like?

Following the Government announcement advising that church buildings are permitted to reopen from 15th June for private prayer, we will be holding an open Zoom meeting for members of our Clergy, PCCs and congregations to attend on Thursday 18th June at 7pm.

Whilst this news is positive, it doesn’t mean that all our buildings will be open or indeed be ready to open on the 15th. We need to make sure that we work together across the benefice to ensure our sacred spaces are safe places for our communities to pray. Bishop Graham has asked that we approach the  reopening of our buildings slowly, steadily and safely. There are many things to consider which is why we are holding this meeting.

Anyone can attend and it would be useful if someone from each parish is able to come to represent the ideas and interests of their congregations. It will be a chance for us to discuss the 4 questions raised by the Archdeacon and an opportunity to help shape what our Church will look like going forward as we come out of lockdown.

• What have you discovered and been doing and can be laid down?
• What has been lost and needs to be regained?
• What has been lost and should remain lost?
