Words of Light and Hope from Sue Page, Lay Minister
Jesus said “I am the good shepherd. I know my own and my own know me, just as the Father knows me and I know the Father. And I lay down my life for my sheep.” John 10:14-15
Prayer
”Lord, May I See You more clearly, Follow You more nearly, and Love You more dearly day by day. As I sit here, …….the beating of my heart, the ebb and flow of my breathing, the movements of my mind…..are all signs of God’s ongoing creation of me! I pause for a moment, and become aware of this presence of God within me.
‘Drop Thy Still Dews of Quietness
till all our strivings cease;
take from our Souls the Strain and Stress,
and let our ordered lives confess
the Beauty of The Peace
“Of God Himself no man can think! He may be reached and held close by means of Love, …
…..but by thought never!”
From ‘The Cloud of the Unknowing’, 14th century monk.
Each of us has our own personal role to play in the great story of transformation. ‘Transformation’, we might well think, is not for us little people. Saints and heroes do transformation, not humble pilgrims on a rocky road. Actually the very opposite is the truth. Transformation happens, one pilgrim at a time, step by painful step, precisely on the rocky roads of life. The Gospel gives us both a vision and a map for this journey.
Mysterious God
Whose silence speaks
louder than words
and whose darkness
guides us more surely
than our light,
May we trust you in cloud
And in sunlight,
In the interplay of word
And Silence,
Help me to remember that mine are the hands with which God is to Bless us now! Teresa of Avila
